Tauranga-based North Island Mussels Limited's processing plant in Greerton will close, resulting in 139 job losses

The company, a joint venture between Sanford and Cedenco Aquaculture, is shutting down due to challenging weather, crop mortalities, and poor yields.

The plant will outsource its processing to a third party, as there isn't enough crop to support multiple plants in the region.
