Whangarei's Northport is considering next steps, after being declined an application for a multimillion dollar expansion

Whangarei's Northport is considering next steps, after being declined an application for a multimillion dollar expansion

It would have increased freight storage and handling capacity, allowing the port to transition to being a high-density container terminal.

Independent commissioners had concerns about the scale and extent of the proposed 11.7 hectare reclamation.

Northport has three weeks to appeal the decision and a spokesperson says it will study the findings.
