Sounds Air is cancelling all future flights from Wellington to Westport, after December

Sounds Air is cancelling all future flights from Wellington to Westport, after December

Nelson-based regional airline, Originair, will fill the gap - after finalising a deal with Buller District Council.

Sounds Air is blaming the decision on high operating costs and a lack of government support.

West Coast-Tasman MP Maureen Pugh has thanked the company for its eight years of service.

She says it's provided Westport a very safe and reliable link with the capital, especially during Covid.
