Police are urging people to be on the lookout for dodgy phone calls - scamming some victims out of thousands

Police are urging people to be on the lookout for dodgy phone calls - scamming some victims out of thousands

Scammers have called elderly New Plymouth residents in the past month, pretending to be legitimate large businesses.

One victim lost almost 24-thousand dollars while the other lost 350-thousand - as scammers kept victims on the phone and accessed their bank accounts.

Police want people to have conversations with vulnerable or elderly family members.
