A driver's been intercepted - after narrowly avoiding a head on collision on the West Coast of the North Island

Police received multiple calls around 1:48 yesterday afternoon - about a reckless driver on the Horowhenua Highway.

Members of the public had described the driver passing illegally on double yellow lines, and and forcing other cars off the road.

He was eventually spiked, and had his vehicle impounded.

The 31 year old man's due at Levin District Court today - charged with failing to stop, reckless driving, escaping Police custody and refusing an officer's request to give blood.
