A High Court judge is signing an order to force online platform X to remove old news stories relating to a man accused of killing a Nelson police officer

A High Court judge is signing an order to force online platform X to remove old news stories relating to a man accused of killing a Nelson police officer

He's been charged with murdering Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming in Nelson on New Year's Day.

Other charges include attempted murder and assault using a vehicle.

Open Justice reporter Tracy Neal says the court's been told X is refusing to take down old related media coverage.

She says the take down order is about ensuring a fair trial, if the case reaches trial.

The defendant has not yet entered a plea.
