Wellington Airport's recorded a nearly 26-million-dollar profit for the financial year, despite slumping domestic passenger numbers

Total yearly passenger numbers were down 140-thousand from the year prior.

However, international visitors were up around 60-thousand, with a 37-percent increase in seats operated to Brisbane cited as a highlight.

The airport also had a bump in property income.

Wellington Airport chief executive Matt Clarke says fleet availability issues were to blame for falling domestic numbers.

He says it's expected to remain a challenge for the next 12 months.
