The West Indies have won the toss and chosen to field against New Zealand in the first cricket test of the three-match series at Christchurch's Hagley Oval

The West Indies have won the toss and chosen to field against New Zealand in the first cricket test of the three-match series at Christchurch's Hagley Oval

The hosts will miss the services of Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner due to groin niggles - they're replaced by Will Young and Michael Bracewell.

Jacob Duffy and Zak Foulkes play their first tests at home, joining Matt Henry and Nathan Smith in the pace attack.

Right-arm quick Ojay Shields will debut and Kemar Roach returns for the visitors, joining Johann Layne and Jayden Seales.

Rain continues to threaten the periphery of the ground without striking - scrim is protecting the pitch and the lights are on.
