Kiwi sailors Josh Junior and Andy Maloney are prepared to race in whatever conditions are thrown at them

Kiwi sailors Josh Junior and Andy Maloney are prepared to race in whatever conditions are thrown at them

The pair are competing in the Finn Gold Cup in Portugal, a 10 race series that's touted to be more difficult to win than an Olympic gold medal.

It's also a selection event for the Tokyo Olympics, and only one of them will be chosen to represent New Zealand in the Finn class at the Games.

Maloney says they've had sunny weather and onshore breezes so far, but he knows conditions can quickly change.

The first two races get underway this evening.
