    Queenstown Lakes District Council's seeking help to get rid of a former America's Cup yacht


    Its regulatory manager says NZL14 is moored in Lake Whakatipu and is abandoned under the Maritime Transport Act.

    The 23 metre long yacht was skippered by Russell Coutts for the 1992 America's Cup.

    Anthony Hall says they're trying to reach out to anyone with the appropriate equipment and resources to remove the boat.

    Hall says it would be up to the person or group successful to decide what to with her once she's off the lake.

    Some funding is available to help with the shift and expressions of interest close on March 27.
