The Bulldogs have confirmed Dean Pay's turbulent tenure as head coach is over

Pay met with players this morning to confirm he's quit, after it emerged the NRL club was already on the lookout for his successor.

Canterbury sit in last place on the ladder with just one win from their nine games this season, while Pay won just 19 from his 57 in charge overall.

Pay's assistant Steve Georgallis will act as interim head coach until an appointment is made.
