Students are being taught in the staff room of an Auckland primary school which is scrambling for space

Students are being taught in the staff room of an Auckland primary school which is scrambling for space

Ormiston Primary School only has capacity for 720 students - but has nearly a thousand learners enrolled.

The Board of Trustees reports children are being taught in the staff room, library and at the neighbouring Junior College.

Chair Russell Thomas has been calling on the Ministry of Education to start the process for more classrooms since 2018.

He says everyday the Ministry waits more students fail to receive the first class education the board wants to offer.
