Police are investigating after a car crashed into a building, igniting a fire in Auckland this morning

Police are investigating after a car crashed into a building, igniting a fire in Auckland this morning

Emergency services were called to Esplanade Road in Mount Eden at 5.20am.

A worker at a neighbouring store says two or three families lived above the shop and were evacuated.

Images show a blue Nissan Tiida with its front half burnt, windscreen shattered, and no back number plate, crashed into the building, which has been damaged inside.

Anyone with footage or information should contact police.
