    Two people are injured -- one seriously -- after their cars collided north of Canterbury's Cheviot, on State Highway 1


    Emergency services were called to Spotswood's Waiau East and Down Roads, about 8.30am.

    One person is being flown to Christchurch Hospital, and the other treated at the scene.

    One lane of the road remains blocked to traffic.
