A finding two Auckland police officers unjustly arrested two people in 2022 - and used excessive force

A finding two Auckland police officers unjustly arrested two people in 2022 - and used excessive force

Police had been called to an incident on Hobson Street that September, when an officer pushed a passer-by who was filming.

He and another man - who also began filming - were arrested for obstruction, then released.

Both officers were internally sanctioned and one charged with common assault - later dropped.

Police acknowledge the Independent Police Conduct Authority's findings, and say officers will continue to learn from these situations.
