Thick black smoke's visible across Auckland with a large fire roaring on the North Shore

Videos on social media show the blaze, with smoke and large flames, at a Recycling Plant on Hillside road in Wairau Valley.

An emergency alert has been sent out warning everyone nearby to stay inside and to stay away from windows and doors.

A neighbour told us they've never seen so many fire trucks and can hardly see out the window.

Emergency services have been approached for comment.
