A Dunedin teen's been caught allegedly driving his new Mustang more than 100 kilometres over the speed limit

Police say he was driving at 202 kilometres an hour on the Southern Motorway, about midnight on Saturday.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond told the ODT the teen told police he wanted to have some fun in his new 2019 Ford Mustang GT, worth about 60-thousand dollars.

The fun ended with his car impounded and license suspended for 28 days - charged with driving at a dangerous speed.
