    A 12-year-old boy is seriously injured after crashing a stolen car in Christchurch overnight


    Police say officers first tried to pull over the car on Aldwins Road in Phillipstown - but didn't pursue it, when it failed to stop.

    Road spikes were deployed unsuccessfully, before the vehicle crashed into a parked car on Memorial Ave.

    Police say the 12 year old driver received serious injuries, but is now stable in hospital.

    The Serious Crash Unit and police are investigating.
