    Parents and caregivers are being reminded to keep close to their kids around water - even near water features that seem lower risk


    A coroner's report's calling for vigilance, after four-year-old Nia Lohchab drowned in Tauranga's Memorial Park Fountain in May 2023.

    Water Safety NZ Acting Chief Executive Gavin Walker says such a tragedy is fortunately rare, but it is a risk.

    He says people must always stay within arms length of their children near any water.
