The family of a Whangarei man is calling for resignations at Corrections after their brother and son was allegedly beaten to death

The family of a Whangarei man is calling for resignations at Corrections after their brother and son was allegedly beaten to death

Rob Fitzpatrick died in Mt Eden Prison in June last year.

The 46-year-old had mental health difficulties and was double bunked with another man, who also had mental health problems.

His alleged attacker was in jail for allegedly attacking a man near a Mangere bus stop - leaving him in a critical condition.

Fitzpatrick's brother, Ross, told the Herald he doesn't understand why his brother was double bunked.
