A 30 metre long air bridge is being installed on Auckland's Hobson St this morning

A 30 metre long air bridge is being installed on Auckland's Hobson St this morning

The new architecturally designed bridge will link the SkyCity Intentional Convention Centre to the Horizon Hotel.

Two mobile cranes will lift the 85 tonne bridge into position, closing Hobson St, between Victoria and Wellesley Streets.

It comes just a year after the devastating fire at the convention centre.

International Convention Centre project director Grant Beckett says the bridge lift is a positive step forward for the re-build.

Hobson St is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday morning.

It's hoped the convention centre will be completed by 2023.
