The death of an aggressive and intoxicated man engaging with a Police officer in Auckland's Grafton last year's been ruled accidental

The death of an aggressive and intoxicated man engaging with a Police officer in Auckland's Grafton last year's been ruled accidental

The Independent Police Conduct Authority says the man refused to leave the City Mission.

The agency says the officer placed a hand on his shoulder to guide the man - but he fell and hit his head on the road, later dying in hospital.

The IPCA's reviewed CCTV footage and confirmed the officer did not use force, and the man fell when he lost balance on the sloping driveway.

It agrees with Police recommendation to not press charges against the officer.
