A man will appear in court today after an assault and robbery outside a supermarket in West Auckland's Hobsonville

The incident last week left an elderly couple injured.

The victims were visiting New Zealand on holiday when they had their bag stolen last Wednesday.

One victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, the other suffered minor ones.

Following an appeal to the public yesterday the man handed himself in to Henderson Police station.

He's been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and robbery.
