    Canterbury have won another all-South Island showdown in Christchurch in cricket's Plunket Shield, beating Otago by six wickets


    After bowling the Volts out for 206, Canterbury cantered to the target in the 39th over, finishing on 207 for 4 at Hagley Oval.

    The Auckland Aces won the first fixture of the one day competition, thrashing Northern Districts by six wickets at Eden Park's Outer Oval.

    After skittling the visitors for just 168, the Aces cruised to the target in 28 overs and five balls, finishing on 169 for four.

    The Central Stags have beaten the Wellington Firebirds by four wickets, bowling their guests out for 199 at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth ... then reaching 201 for 6 early in the 40th over.
