With the national swimming championships kicking off tonight on Auckland's North Shore, Reid says a group of athletes are focusing on the 200 metre free race.
He hopes to personally do well, but concedes the goal is for a team of swimmers to all meet the qualifying time.
Zac Reid has already qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in the men's 800 metre freestyle.
He's competing in that discipline tonight at the nationals, with the race beginning shortly at 10 past seven.
