An Auckland phone kiosk worker's avoided conviction - over trying to copy an intimate photo from a customer's phone

The Sylvia Park store employee earlier pleaded guilty to attempting to AirDrop the image - an offence with possible penalties of up to five years in prison.

The 27-year-old was confronted by the customer in July - and video of the interaction went viral on social media.

Judge Grant Fraser's discharged the man without conviction in Auckland today - citing safety risks if he were deported to Sri Lanka.
