A unique twist to the classic potato top pie has taken out the top spot in the country's pie awards

A unique twist to the classic potato top pie has taken out the top spot in the country's pie awards

Albany's Rosedale Bakery and Cafe has taken out this year's Bakels NZ Supreme Award.

Owner, Sam So, says he adjusted the recipe for a year, until he thought it was perfect.

Herald NOW's Katie Oliver was there this morning, and says the pie's filled with mince as usual, but has another twist on the inside.

She says there's a layered French potato gratin in the middle, which could be the secret to their win.
