A man's been arrested at Auckland International Airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle two-kilos of meth into the country

Customs Manager Investigations Cam Moore says the man was on a flight from Santiago, with the meth found packed into the lining of a suitcase.

He says it's believed to come from Mexico.

Moore says this is the first seizure of drugs found on a passenger since the border was reopened this year.

The man will appear in the Manukau District Court charged with the Importation of a Class A drug.
