Armed police cordoned off part of Mangere Bridge in Auckland last night after reports of gunshots

Armed police cordoned off part of Mangere Bridge in Auckland last night after reports of gunshots

Roads around the village are now understood to be open to traffic.

A reporter on the scene said the Armed Offenders Squad moved in, with one person taken into custody.

It follows a spate of shooting city-wide in recent weeks, many of which are gang-related.

There were also reports of gunshots at Ashmore Place in Favona overnight and police are investigating reports of gunfire in Massey and Otara yesterday.
