Evidence is set to resume at the murder trial of Tingjun Cao in the High Court at Christchurch

He is charged with killing Christchurch real estate agent Yanfei Bao in July 2023.

Her body was found with stab wounds more than a year later.

Yesterday, Cao sat with his eyes closed in the dock during evidence from his former boss, three police staff and a hardware shopkeeper.

The jury was shown a video of an Asian man in the store gesturing to buy a spade on the day Bao disappeared.

Cao later started speaking loudly to his lawyers, and court was adjourned early.
