A strong Police presence is expected in North Canterbury this weekend, as car enthusiasts converge on Rangiora for the Muscle Car Madness Car Show

Six vehicles have already been impounded and several infringement notices issued around Rangiora over the past two nights.

More than one-thousand breath tests were carried out on Thursday night alone.

Rural Canterbury Area Commander Peter Cooper says Police will continue monitoring activity over the weekend and take all complaints seriously.

He says people should enjoy the event - but not in a way that disrupts or annoys the wider community.
