Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian was struck in a hit and run in Wellington

The incident happened at the intersection of Tory and Tennyson Streets at about 6.30 last night.

The pedestrian was carried a short distance on the bonnet of the vehicle before falling onto the road on Tory Street - they have minor injuries.

The vehicle is described as a light blue hatchback, which they say would have damaged windscreen wipers as a result of the collision.

Police are pleading with the driver to do the right thing and come forward.
