Six UN refugee agency workers reportedly killed in air strike Israel claims was targeting Hamas militants — as it happened

The UN Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA has labelled the deaths of six staffers killed in air strikes which hit a school in central Gaza as "just tragic," claiming on X that "no one is safe".

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, has called the deaths of six of its staffers killed in Israeli air strikes which hit a school in central Gaza "just tragic," claiming on X that "no one is safe".

The Israeli military said it was targeting Hamas militants planning attacks from inside the school. The claim could not be independently confirmed.

Hamas said the Israeli strike killed at least 18 people, including the UNRWA staff, while hospital officials said at least 14 were killed and 18 wounded.
