Coronation Street actor Mark Eden has died following a battle with Alzheimer's

Coronation Street actor Mark Eden has died following a battle with Alzheimer's

He played the part of Alan Bradley in the long-running British soap opera.

He was eight years on the Street in the 1980s and was involved in an on-screen scenario that was one of the most-watched in the history of the programme.

His character was killed by a tram as Alan Bradley pursued Rita Fairclough across the tracks, intent on murdering her.

The actor in real life married another Street star, Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey, and she survives him.

    Mark Eden was 92.
