Police are still investigating a serious gang-related firearms incident at a downtown Auckland hotel

Police are still investigating a serious gang-related firearms incident at a downtown Auckland hotel

Armed officers were called to the Sofitel Hotel at the Viaduct yesterday morning.

Detective Inspector John Sutton says it's extremely concerning and they've spoken with a number of people.

However, no arrests have been made.

He says those involved in the incident are from the Head Hunters and Mongols gangs.

Sutton says it's believed yesterday's incident is linked to shots being fired at the Head Hunters gang pad on Marua Road, in Mt Wellington, last weekend.

Police are issuing a strong warning to both gangs regarding reckless, dangerous and unlawful behaviour.
