Moviegoers had their film cut short, after armed police evacuated a mall in West Auckland

Officers tracked two people to New Lynn Mall shortly after 5pm yesterday, following reports of a person being robbed by two men and threatened with a firearm in a neighbouring suburb.

Officers subsequently guarded entrances and exits of the complex before arresting one of the suspects and recovering a firearm.

The other offender is still on the run.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunshots; Police say no shots were fired.
