Police are seeking information after a vehicle was discovered submerged in a Wairarapa river

Police are seeking information after a vehicle was discovered submerged in a Wairarapa river

Police received reports of a car that appears to have crashed into the Waipoua River off Chapel Street in Masterton at about 7 this morning.

An emergency helicopter has been unable to locate anyone in the water and no one appeared to be inside the car.

The vehicle has since gone downstream and conditions are too dangerous to take it out or deploy a dive squad.

Police are concerned that someone may have got out and fallen into trouble in the water.
