    Home detention - and 115 thousand dollars reparation - for a former advisor who admitted defrauding the Maori King's office


    Rangi Whakaruru was sentenced this morning in the Auckland District Court to 12 months detention, as well as 300 hours of community service and the reparation amount.

    The 57-year-old's pleaded guilty last December to obtaining by deception and lying to Serious Fraud Office investigators.

    The court heard his offending cost 140-thousand-dollars.
