National's calling on the Government to further fund a Maori education programme

The Puhoro STEM Academy aims to raise Maori participation and achievement in science, technology, engineering and maths by engaging with senior high school students.

The programme, run by Massey University, is proving so popular, there are dozens of schools on the waiting list.

Jo Hayes - the National Party spokeswoman for Maori education - says the Government needs to step in and offer more support.
