Maori public health organisation Hapai Te Hauora is calling for pokie venues to up their host responsibility game

Maori public health organisation Hapai Te Hauora is calling for pokie venues to up their host responsibility game

A new survey from the Health Promotion Agency reveals a trend of non-compliance.

Of the pokie players who were surveyed, over half reported they had no communication with staff, and not a single person was spoken to about their gambling.

That's in spite of 16 percent of them admitting to at least some level of gambling harm.

Hapai Te Hauora spokesperson Rebecca Ruwhiu-Collins says there needs to be a dramatic shift in host responsibility, to ensure communities get the help they need.
