    Maori in schools might not be the way to go to save the language


    A new University of Canterbury study has modelled how efforts to keep the Welsh language from disappearing have worked - so they can be applied to other endangered languages like Te Reo.

    Researcher Dr Michael Plank says they found prioritising resources helps.

    He says teachers being spread too thin on the ground can make it harder for a language to bounce back - so targeting a small group first is a better use of resources.
