A glimpse into the future of Super Rugby might have been unveiled this morning

A glimpse into the future of Super Rugby might have been unveiled this morning

The inaugural Moana Pasifika squad, a prototype for that which might feature in the franchise competition from 2022, has been named to play the Maori All Blacks on December 5 in Hamilton.

It features New Zealand players with Samoan, Tongan and Fijian heritage.

Many are already contracted to Super Rugby and all but one have represented their provinces in this year's Mitre 10 Cup.

Nine of the 26-man squad have test caps, including All Black Josh Ioane.
