    The father of Tauranga teen running sensation Sam Ruthe has paid tribute to the long-term record-holder his son has consigned to history


    The 16-year-old broke Richard Potts' 1989 Secondary Schools' 1500 metre record by a whopping eight seconds at the national track and field champs in Hastings.

    Sam's dad, Ben, says Potts was proudly amongst the action, at his home track..



    Ruthe also broke the under-20 800 metre record in a time of 1 minute 46 seconds.
