State Highway 1 in the Far North is open this morning, after a flare up last night at the blaze near Kaimaumau

State Highway 1 in the Far North is open this morning, after a flare up last night at the blaze near Kaimaumau

The road was closed between Turk Valley Road and Big Flat Road.

Fire and Emergency says the flare up happened at the northern end of the fire ground.

Crews will be heading back there this morning, but the fire is contained.

It has burnt across more than 2000 hectares since it began last weekend, prompting locals to evacuate for a few nights
