Northland District police are urging people who don't need to travel on the roads around the district today, to stay at home

Northland District police are urging people who don't need to travel on the roads around the district today, to stay at home

The wild weather brought down trees across roads throughout the region, with over 35 weather-related incidents reported to police.

This includes a tree falling and damaging a home in Kauri, Whangarei.

Several boats also broke free from moorings at Russell and Opua.

Police in the Far North are expecting further reports of damage and road blockages as people inspect their properties.
