The trial of a man charged with triple-murder in Rotorua won't go ahead until nearly two and a half years after the alleged crime

The trial of a man charged with triple-murder in Rotorua won't go ahead until nearly two and a half years after the alleged crime

52-year-old Justin Matthew Jeffries is pleading not guilty to murdering three people last year - on the grounds of insanity.

The trial's been scheduled for February 2027, after a delay for two psychologists' reports - one from the defence and one from the Crown.

The Crown's ascribing the wait to its appointed writer being busy with the Loafers Lodge case.

Solicitor Amanda Gordon also says Te Whatu Ora is taking an extraordinary amount of time to get medical evidence to police.
