    A car's plunged off a bank on a notorious stretch of State Highway 2, at Tangoio, north of Eskdale and Napier


    Serious injuries are being reported, and the road's expected to remain closed for some time.

    The summer holiday road toll sits at one, after a man died from critical injuries in hospital - after being struck by a car on Napier's McGrath Street about 10pm on Boxing Day.

    Police want to speak with to any witnesses.
