A 16-year-old male in a critical condition, and a 17-year-old female with serious injuries ... remain in Dunedin Hospital.

Southern Area Commander Inspector Mike Bowman says enquiries are ongoing - including witness interviews.

He's reassuring the community police believe this was a targeted incident - and can expect an increased Police presence in the area today.
