    Quick Sports Summary

    Quick Sports Summary

The Queenstown hub for the opening three to four weeks of the season has been confirmed, with games to be played in Wakatipu at day-time and Invercargill under lights at night.

It's being done to mitigate the risk of a Covid case knocking out a team for 10 days as close contacts.

NZR head of professional rugby Chris Lendrum says at least they can keep going, unlike lockdowns.

The Crusaders will unleash former Pumas captain Pablo Matera in their opening preseason hit out against the Highlanders on Friday in Oamaru.

Matera will wear the number 8 jersey in a Crusaders side without their All Blacks and a serious chunk of their core players.

Coach Scott Robertson's been blown away by the ease in which Matera's integrated with his side.

The Crusaders and Highlanders will bus to Queenstown over the weekend to begin their time in the bubble.

Former Miami Dolphins team boss Brian Flores is suing the NFL and three franchises over alleged racist hiring practices for aspiring coaches.

He also claims the Dolphins offered him $100,000 US dollars a game in his first season to tank so the club could secure the top draft pick.

The lawsuit filed in Manhattan seeks class-action status and unspecified damages from the league, the Dolphins, the Denver Broncos and the New York Giants, along with unidentified individuals.

Flores was dismissed last month by Miami after leading the Dolphins to a 24-25 record over three years, but failed to make the play-offs during his tenure.
