Heavy rain is on the way for Fiordland, Westland and the Canterbury and Otago headwaters

A front moving north over the South Island during the weekend is expected to bring rain...and an orange rainfall warning has been issued for parts of Fiordland and Westland.

Heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly.

Surface flooding and slips are also possible, and driving conditions may be hazardous.
